is the answer C, nitrogen?
nitrogen..
I think it should be C - nitrogen gas is produced on a large scale for the production of ammonia (the Haber process).
Yup, nitrogen.
Nitrogen is obtained by liquefaction of air and then fractional distillation.
nitrogen.
there's 98% of N2 in the air.
i think it's methane, since it has the smallest molecular mass.
i think is C) nitrogen
as nitrogen makes up 78% of the composition of air.
am i right?
A: Chlorine. I think is it because of the higher molecular mass?
Dear Students,
Good to see you thinking and participating.
Answer for this question is C) Nitrogen Gas.
N2 is makes up the majority of the air that we breathe and they are indeed liquefied and separated by fractional distillation.
Two things i would need to clarify thou:
1) N2 makes up 78-79% of the air that surrounds us, nothing less and nothing more
2)For fractional distillation of air, the components are separated based on their boiling point and not their molecular mass. When we compare molecular mass in order to find the answer, the substances must be from same "homologous series".
Hope this helps.

omg. i put 98%. i must be mad.
It is nitrogen because nitrogen made up 79% of the gas in our atmosphere ^^
